| Member Purge :: Monday, June 02, 2008 To streamline our member list and keep the database optimized, roughly once a month, registered members who have not logged on for a while (1+ year as a general rule) will have their accounts deleted from the site. If you fall into this category but wish to maintain your membership, logging in once in a while will safeguard your account! If you want to participate without using your web account, please contact us to make arrangements to put a hold on your account. |
| Under Construction :: Saturday, May 31, 2008 The website will be undergoing a bit of a facelift over the next few days, so you may encounter some wonkiness (mostly aesthetics) during that period. All will be well again soon though. Thanks for your patience! |
| Welcome ChildFree DFW - Farewell No Kidding! :: Wednesday, April 09, 2008 You've doubtless noticed the name change, and you may be wondering what happened! Several factors contributed to our decision to secede (see the forums for the discussions), but in a nutshell, our group has come to a parting of the ways with the No Kidding! mothership up in Canada as our local chapter has evolved into a different entity than theirs. What our members want from a social group is no longer compatible with the NK! guidelines.
No Kidding! is open to all non-parents, including those who just don't have children yet, but our group prefers to cater to a more specific demographic: people who don't have kids and have made a conscious choice to never have kids. Thus, our membership is not open to anyone with parenting aspirations (childless vs. childfree), as the intent of our group is not only to connect with like-minded people, but also hopefully to foster lasting friendships.
So, we're now officially on our own, and it's all ours now, people: Welcome to ChildFree DFW! We've updated the website to reflect our new name, but we may make some additional minor modifications, so please bear with us as we finalize our transition. We'll keep you updated via the forums, and if you have any suggestions or questions about the change, don't hesitate to speak up. ChildFree DFW is what it is because of our members, so now more than ever we encourage everyone to be involved.
New Address & Membership Cancellation
Please update your bookmarks with our new URL: www.childfreedfw.org. The nkdfw address will remain valid for a few more months. If you feel that ChildFree DFW is no longer the group for you, please feel free to cancel your membership via the Unregister link under Members>My Account or email us with your request. |

What is ChildFree DFW
|
|
|
ChildFree DFW is an all-volunteer*, non-profit social club for adult couples and singles who have made a conscious choice to never have kids. If you are without children and want to associate with others of like mind, join in the fun!
Members are strongly encouraged to suggest their own events in the Forums, as we are a highly unorthodox group with all types of people with one thing in common - so, if you don't see anything you'd care to participate in, by all means, feel free to show us new stuff!
*This social club is run entirely by volunteers who put in a great deal of their own time, money, and effort to make everything happen. In return, we ask that any problems be handled in a civil manner. This is a lot more work than you might think, and we're doing our best, on top of our other responsibilities. If you would like to volunteer to help in any way, just drop us a line!

| Q. What is ChildFree DFW and who are the childfree? |
A. ChildFree DFW is an all-volunteer, nonprofit social club for couples and singles who, for whatever reason, have never had children. Each individual has his/her own personal reasons for making this choice.
Every childfree club is different, evolving over time into something unique based on its membership. Here in DFW, we are outspoken about being childfree. Those who wish to join are advised to understand that we are not especially welcoming of prospective members who express a desire to one day have children, or whose children are grown and gone. Furthermore, if you feel that you would take offense at some of our more outspoken members, we gently recommend that you seek a different social outlet. |
| Q. What kinds of activities does ChildFree DFW have? |
| A. Activities range from the ever-popular group dinner/happy hour to excursions to museums, concerts, botanical gardens, science fiction conventions, drum circles, art festivals, Renaissance Faires, and anything else that anyone can come up with. We try to address the infinite range of interests of our members and suggestions are ALWAYS welcome! |
| Q. Why should I register for this site? |
| A. To access certain portions of this site, such as the Forums and Photos, registration is required. Registered members also receive a monthly email newsletter detailing upcoming events and announcements. The only way to get to know other members online is to visit the Forums, so don't be shy! Registration is quite easy and does not require sharing very much personal information. |
| Q. How do I register? |
| A. On the Join/Login page, read through the membership requirements and choose "I agree." Fill in the required fields and click "Register." You will then be redirected back to the Join/Login page to login with the user information you just created. To complete the process, at this time you will need to enter a verification code that should be delivered to your email account shortly after registering. |
| Q. How do I unregister from this site and the newsletter emails? |
A. Under the "Members" menu, go to "My Account." On this page, click on the "Unregister" option to delete your account.
|
| Q. I need technical assistance with the site. Where can I get help? |
| A. To view a list of Help FAQs or to submit your own questions, please visit the About/Help page... |
